1975年デザイナーのトマソ・チミニが創立。創立から現在に至るまでファミリーカンパニーとして存続している。洗練されたデザインとクオリティの高さに定評があり、創立当初に発表された「Daphine」は40年以上経た今も完成されたデザインとして評価を得ている。また、代表的な作品「Galileo」は製作が困難とされる磨きガラス（光学ガラス）を使用するなど技術力の高さも証明している。照明器具としての機能性を重視しながらも、洗練された美しさも兼ね備えたLUMINA のコレクションは、ヨーロッパのみならず世界中からも高い評価を得ており、博物館や美術館でも数多く使用されている。
